it doesn't take long
for your whole life to change
if you look away
for just a second
a child can be lost
worse--a child can be taken
if you look away
for just a second
someone you love
can stumble and fall
or they could vanish forever
if you look away
for just a second
a heart can break
a life can end
you never know what
a second can bring
but if you live your life
nervously watching everyone, everything
you might never know
how deeply you can love or
how hard you can laugh
no one will see you smile or
ever hear you sing
if you look away
for just a second
you could hit a bump in the road
lose control and go off course
but you have to trust
the one in the driver's seat
and know He'll get you home
just fine
trust Him and
look away
